It's not that the mod index isn't right because it sounds pretty bang on but the fm8 sounds more filled out with high frequencies. The problem I'm having now, is that when I try different ways of calculating mod index (according to the sources I've linked above) is that although they are all in the right ballpark, none of them are generating the same amount of harmonics as the fm8.
